Simha Garjan Asan
(Roaring Lion Pose)

- Sit in Dandasan.
- Gently come into Vajrasan; then separate the knees about 1-2 feet apart and keep the hands on the floor in between the knees, fingers facing backwards.
- Keeping the arms straightened, lean slightly backwards.
- Now shifting a bit of body weight onto the hands, raise the head upwards and backwards.
- Arch the back little bit; then gaze at the eyebrow center and inhale (Radhey) deeply.
- While exhaling (Shyam), take the tongue out as far as possible, with the mouth wide open and produce a roaring sound like that of a lion.
- Repeat it 3-5 times in the similar manner.
- Then, come into Sukhasan and massage the throat with the fingers while swallowing saliva to remove the uneasiness in the throat.

Benefits
It is chiefly recommended for the problems which affect the ear, nose and throat. So, it cures enunciation related problems in speech. Likewise, it is useful in tonsils, thyroid and other throat related problems. Besides it is also beneficial for those who are neurotic or introverted.
