JKYog, will hold its first West Coast fundraiser in the Bay Area on Sunday, September 28, at the Sunnyvale Hindu Temple in Sunnyvale, CA. The fundraiser includes a fun filled day of cultural activities starting at 11am followed by Dandia at 4pm.
The event is targeted at young families in a way such that the entire family, children and parents, is actively engaged throughout the day. Cultural activities include a Fancy Dress Contest for little kids, a dance contest, a quiz, a surprise event, and a bhajan contest with prizes. There will also be a separate Kids Activity Corner with fun things to do for kids. The event will host a typical Indian style Bazaar with lots of businesses offering traditional clothing, arts and crafts, jewelry, cosmetics, other services and not to forget delicious snacks, chaat and chai, etc. Dandiya, which is the only ticketed part of this extravaganza at $10 per person, with children under 5 free, will start at 4 pm.
The contributions received through this fundraiser will be used to support girls’ schools and to provide free healthcare to the economically disadvantaged Indian population. The girls’ schools support nearly 3,000 girls and provide a well-rounded education from Kindergarten through College, so that these girls become strong, financially independent women.
The fundraiser will also support specific hospitals that are open 24/7 to serve the poor and the needy. Both these institutions are fully staffed with volunteers.
JKYog is a faith based 501 (c)(3) organization that supports women’s education and free healthcare in the economically disadvantaged parts of India. It is a grassroots organization that currently has about 20 centers and 500 active members across the entire US.
