Stay Safe at Home, We Will Bring Service to You!
Dear JKYog Family,
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to escalate, it's our
prime social responsibility to ensure the health and safety of the self,
families, neighbors, communities, nations, which ultimately leads to
strengthening the global health, says H. H. Swami Mukundananda ji.
Swamiji will be having a Zoom session / Google Hangout on
March 24th, 2020 at 6:30 pm CST
To support efforts that are underway to slow the spread of
the virus, JKYog has temporarily suspended all events and public
gatherings of JKYog members worldwide until further notice. We cannot
emphasize enough how important it is to observe social distancing, and
to take personal responsibility in avoiding gatherings - both small and
definitely large. We urge you to be practical about your hygiene &
safety, and plan to have an immune-boosting diet regularly.
It's imperative we remain positive during these unusual and
unforeseen times, as positivity is the key to cope with any crisis. Now,
more than ever, is the time to foster positive emotions, as it
increases our immunity and enhances both physical and mental
health.
At JKYog, we pursue to inspire and empower you to lead a
peaceful, purposeful, and fulfilling life. To continue to do so during
these trying times, we have launched new, FREE online programs and
enhanced the existing ones that are uplifting and spiritually
nourishing. We invite you to take advantage of these programs from the
comfort of your home:
Hygiene and Safety Tips
As
our communities continue to feel the increased impact of COVID-19, we
feel it is important to share with you a few tips for you to stay safe,
protect yourself, and to prevent spread of the virus:
- Do NOT shake hands.
- Use ONLY your knuckle to touch light switches, elevator buttons, etc.
- Lift the gasoline dispenser with a paper towel or use a disposable glove.
- Open
doors with your closed fist or hip; do not grasp the handle with your
hand, unless there is no other way to open the door. Especially, this is
crucial with bathroom and post office/commercial doors.
- Use disinfectant wipes at the stores when they are available, to wipe your hands, handle, and child seat in grocery carts.
- Wash
your hands with soap for 10-20 seconds and/or use a higher than 60%
alcohol-based hand sanitizer whenever you return home from ANY activity
that involves locations where other people have been.
- Keep a
bottle of sanitizer available at each of your home's entrances AND in
your car for use after getting gas or touching other contaminated
objects when you can't immediately wash your hands.
- If possible,
cough or sneeze into a disposable tissue and discard. Use your elbow
only if you have to. The clothing on your elbow will contain an
infectious virus that can be passed on for up to a week or more!
- Use
surgical masks to prevent touching your nose and/or mouth (We touch our
nose/mouth 90X/day without knowing it!). This is the only way this
virus can infect you - it is lung-specific. The mask will not prevent
the virus in a direct sneeze from getting into your nose or mouth - it
is only to keep you from touching your nose or mouth
We hope that you and your loved ones stay safe & healthy during
these tumultuous times. We pray for the fast recovery of those who are
impacted. While our temples may be closed and public worship is
suspended temporarily, be assured that the light of the Supreme Lord's
love shines upon us brightly. Let us take full shelter of the Lord, with
the mind fixed upon him.

How to Boost Immunity and Fight Corona Virus?
Today when the world is
anxious over Coronavirus and WHO has declared it a pandemic, the one
thing of utmost importance is how to boost our immunity, and protect or
guard ourselves against it. With some of these dos and don'ts,
infections can be avoided. Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses
common among animals that can get transmuted to humans.
Boost your Immune System The
immune system is a complex web of cell organs and proteins that protect
or neutralize the body from hundreds of microbes and bacteria in the
atmosphere. Boost the defense
mechanism
of the body to combat the pathogens like bacterium, virus, flu, and
other diseases by five basic natural essential ingredients. 1. Vitamin C
One of the top immune boosters is vitamin C. Deficiency in vitamin
C results in a weak immune system and reduces the resistance against
certain pathogens. Citrus fruits such as sweet limes, guava, oranges,
grapefruit, lemon, papaya and pineapple along with kiwis and berries
contain large amounts of vitamin C. But the king of all sources of
vitamin C is Indian Gooseberry or Amla with a vitamin C concentration of
600 mg to 1800 mg of ascorbic acid in every 100 g. Fresh amla juice
contains 20 times as much vitamin C as is present in orange juice.
2. Probiotics Probiotics
are live microorganisms that help maintain good health. The best
probiotic food is curd (homemade) which has healthy live bacteria very
beneficial for people with lactose tolerance. Remember the bacteria gets
killed in processed curd. Buttermilk is low in fat and calories
and contains important vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin B12,
riboflavin, calcium, and phosphorus. Healthy bacteria strengthen the
digestive system and make the immune system strong. Tempeh is a good
substitute for meat or tofu. It is a probiotic-rich grain made from
soybeans and a great source of vitamin B12
