Dono Divya Chandrama Hein Govind Radhe
Mere Dou Naina Chakor Bana De

Shree Maharajji teaches us the philosophy of divine in many different ways to entice the seeker and melt his heart in divine longing for Shri Radha Krishna.

Divine spiritual knowledge, which is food for the intellect is laced sweet nectar of braj ras that makes our heart long for a glimpse of the divine couple, Shri Radha and Krishna. The greatness of Shri Maharajji’s couplets in Radha Govind Geet is that he reveals the divine truth to strengthen the intellect and simultaneously sets the heart racing to meet our soul beloved!

Shri Maharajji refers to the chakor bird in couplet 17. Chakor is one of the most elusive and unique birds that exist on our planet. In ancient India, sages sing praises of this bird as the one that drink the ‘nectar of the moon’ to survive. Strange and unbelievable as it may seem, the bird has captivated thinkers and scientists of the past.

The chakor gazes at the moon alluringly, as one would his lover, bathing in the glory of the shimmering full moon light. It is this ‘nectar of the moon’ that the chakor longs for and drinks to the brim. It is said that the chakor looks at the moon constantly without taking its eyes off.

What does this have to do with spirituality?!?

The human mind is constantly seeking pleasure of the senses – the eyes, the ears, touch, smell and taste. We experience this on a daily basis. Shri Maharajji has explained in many of his lectures that desire for pleasure of the senses is one of the biggest impediments on the path to spiritual progress.

How does one overcome desire? Shri Maharajji has clearly mentioned that the human mind cannot conquer desire on its own. It will need the grace of God. Hence, the most intelligent thing to do is to divert desire towards God. If you like to see places, desire to see Shri Krishna everywhere and at all times. Desire to see him for his pleasure but never forget to see him in every being – living or benign. If the mind likes to hear (music), desire to hear music related to God alone and nothing else.

In this way, diverting our desires to the realm of God will take us closer to God and at the same time, diminish the desire for material pleasure. The soul will begin to desire things related to God alone and shun everything else.

Still, what does chakor have to do with it?

Shree Maharajji says, “Shri Radha and Krishna are the divine moon of this universe.”

The moon, by just reflecting sunlight turns into a stunning beauty at night, especially when in full bloom. Nothing compares to the beauty of a full moon night, when a romantic heart soars with the waves, in longing to meet the beloved for whom it so tearfully longs for.

If Shri Radha and Krishna are the divine moon, one cannot even imagine the beauty that adorns the night!

Shree Maharajji, speaking on behalf of the devotee, says, “Please make my eyes like that of the chakor bird. With those eyes, i shall drown in the nectar of divine love that flows through the countless beams of the divine moon and attain your love for eternity.”

This reinforces the philosophy that the mind should always think of Shri Radha Krishna and realize their presence everywhere at all times.

A longing soul seeks the divine vision of Shri Radha Krishna. Countless full moons cannot match even a glimpse of their divine beauty. Countless fortunate souls have seen this beauty and attained their divine vision by their grace.

Shedding tears of love and separation, a sincere heart can win over Shri Radha Krishna, and like the chakor, drink the nectar of braj ras for ever.
