Tournament (Blitz) format will be in Swiss format which means that every player gets an opportunity to play every round and there is no elimination. Number of rounds will be based on total number of entries received for Chess event. Expect to play a minimum of 2 rounds and a maximum of four rounds.

First round of pairings will be determined based on the player’s age.

Every won game will fetch 1 point, lost game will fetch 0 point, and a draw game (by threefold repetition or by stalemate or by mutual agreement or or by claiming insufficient material to win or by fifty-move rule) will fetch 0.5 point each player.

This is a G/5 sudden death game which means that each player will get 5 minutes in a single.

Touch Move Rule is modified here to a “Punch Clock” rule. Once a player “punches” his/her timer and starts the opponent’s timer the move is completed. However it is the player(s) responsibility to take care of themselves.

Each player must press the clock with the same hand that moves the pieces, use one hand to both to move the pieces and to press the clock. First violation will be a warning and second violation will result in loss of game. However, tournament directors will not watch out for this violations. The players have to watch out and some witness (could be tournament directors also) has to be there so that we can enforce this rule.

If the King is in check and an illegal move is made (and the move is completed by pressing the clock) then opponent can take the King and can claim win. A player who moves his king adjacent to the opponent’s king and then attempts to claim a win under this rule based on the opponent’s failure to notice the check shall lose the game (A King can’t give check to another King)

A player who has played an illegal move loses the game if his/her opponent notices this and makes the claim. An illegal move is completed when the player presses the clock.

There will be very minimal gap between the rounds and each round lasts for only 10 minutes, so don’t leave the tournament area or come back in time before the next round starts so that you don’t lose time on the clock. Absence of any player during any round will be considered as loss of game and the opponent will get a point automatically.

The decision of the tournament director is final.
